Size is designated by INCHES. Use only numbers and one decimal point in this box to designate your lettering height. DO NOT add any " marks, as it will not calculate your price or allow you to add it to the cart.
We calculate the letter height of most fonts:
1. Based on the tallest capital letter, or
2. The tallest lowercase letter, if there are no capitals. Please visit our Letter Height Examples Page for visual examples.
We calculate the height of the fonts in the "Special" font tab by the TOTAL height (From the top of the tallest letter to the bottom of the lowest letter). This is because the capital letters are smaller than the lowercase letters. Some fonts ordered in 3 inch lettering height could actually end up being 8 inches tall. To alleviate the problem of receiving a massively large quote that would never work in your space, we now calculate these fonts by the total height. Some of these fonts include Scriptina, Dolphin, Girls Are Weird, and Afternoon Delight. Please read the full instructions inside the "Special" tab for ordering these fonts.
Please take a look at your quote carefully in the preview screen. If the tallest capital letter is still quite a bit shorter than the lowercase letters, and you are worried that the total lettering height will be too tall for your space, then please give us instructions in the comments section of the order, (for example: "Please make the total lettering height no taller than 5 inches.") We will be happy to accommodate your space requirements. You can also give us a call and we can tell you exactly what letter height to order that will be perfect for your space requirements.
If we need to contact you - We will make every effort to contact you if we suspect the size will not work for you, or if the sizing is more than 20% longer or shorter than the quote width tells you in the order. Please add your phone number to the comments section. If we do not get a response from you, we will complete the project at the size you ordered. To help us, please also add any space restrictions, or minimum/maximum heights/widths in the comments section of the order. We always give a 25% discount for redo orders, but we would prefer just to get it right the first time, so please give us as much information as possible. If you receive a quote that isn't the size you expected and can't use it, please read our Policies Page, then give us a call.
Please Note: If you do not have any height restrictions but do have width restrictions, do not choose a letter height. Type in your desired quote width in the "Quote Width" box. This will calculate an approximate letter height for you. We will create your lettering using your desired quote width, not the letter height.
Additional Notes: Sometimes you may need to type in your lettering height again after choosing a different font (to recalculate the approximate quote width).
